This is a balanced article that explains both the risks and benefits of low-carb and ketogenic diets.  My main caution I would give for these diets is that we have very little long term evidence for them.  If a diet will not cause you to be better off 1, 2, 5 or even 10 years down the road, then you need to be cautious about it.  Always take a long view when it comes to your health.

Have you ever heard the saying "the dose makes the poison?"  Well, it's true.  Here's a great resource to show just much conventionally grown produce you or someone in your family would need to eat for pesticide residue to be an issue.  Remember, increased fruit and vegetable intake of ANY KIND is beneficial.  If you like to buy organic, great!  However, avoiding fruits and veggies because you can't always afford the organic option does significantly more harm than any potential pesticide residues will.
